Paul Asbury Seaman VAAST is a completely unique voice in the panoply of styles and textures that loosely comprise the ambient genre. He plays electric guitar with actual licks and melody lines, not extended Chapman-Stick sustained notes and atmospherics. He also uses piano and what sounds like REAL, jazz-tinged bass. 'Chi Sagittarii' is my debut VAAST album and represents the journey of the human imagination from our humble roots into the unknowns, as well as the blending of analog and digital forces in our lives. The album incorporates experimental sound design practices such as recording random objects including simulating the famous chess match when computers overcame humans. This was the first and only album made on Cubase (5) and followed heavy research into and experimentation with VST plug-ins. Heavily used are those by Rob Papen and the late Tim Conrardy.
